    Book Recommendation of the Month

Writing Effective Use Cases by Alistair Cockburn

As we are focusing this month's newsletter on business analysis it is fitting to recommend Writing Effective Use Cases. Developing use cases is an excellent way to work with your customer to identify and document detailed requirements.

This book describes the "right amount" of detail required to write a "good" requirement. Real world examples are provided to enable application of the information conveyed to your work environment. A must read for anyone responsible for gathering requirements via use cases.

This Month's Article: The 10 Things About Business Analysis I Learned From My Dog

    By Bob McGannon, PMP

Two years ago we examined canine knowledge and how it applies to project management. The relationships skills of dogs - their loyalty and ability to draw attention to themselves - provided us with lessons to apply to project management. The world of business analysis has some things to learn from our canine friends as well!

Dogs efficiently read the "requirements" of their masters and have a number of skills that good business analysts should aspire to emulate. This is a fun article with some great tips that you won't want to miss!!
